Continuing her six-week educational and research journey at the Lanka Mangrove Museum and Learning Center, the young volunteer from India participated in an educational session focused on mangrove plants and their importance.

During the session, she was introduced to the unique characteristics of mangrove species, their adaptations to coastal environments, and the important ecological services provided by mangrove ecosystems. The session included discussions on mangrove diversity, conservation methods, and the role of these valuable coastal forests in protecting biodiversity and supporting coastal communities.

Students from Grades 4, 5, 10, and 11 of Madampe Muslim School visited the Lanka Mangrove Museum and Learning Center for an educational programme. During their visit, the students explored the museum exhibits, learned about the importance of mangrove ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, and environmental protection.

The educational sessions provided valuable knowledge about the role of mangroves in protecting coastal areas, supporting wildlife, and mitigating climate change. The students actively participated in discussions and gained a deeper understanding of the need to conserve these unique ecosystems for future generations.

The Lanka Mangrove Museum warmly welcomed an international volunteer from India on 27 May 2026. The volunteer has joined a six-week educational and research program organized through AIESEC’s “Rooted” Project.

During the program, the participant will engage in various activities related to mangrove conservation, environmental education, and sustainable ecosystem management. The volunteer will work closely with the museum team, gaining practical knowledge and contributing to ongoing conservation and awareness initiatives.

The session also highlighted the ongoing conservation efforts carried out by the museum and the importance of protecting these unique ecosystems for future generations. On 11th March 2026, a group of preschool children from five preschools under the Chilaw Pradeshiya Sabha area visited the Lanka Mangrove Museum and Learning Center as part of their environmental learning activities.

During the visit, the children had the opportunity to observe the museum exhibits and gain basic knowledge about mangroves, their importance, and the need for conservation. The program aimed to introduce young learners to the natural environment and encourage them to appreciate and protect ecosystems such as mangrove forests.

The visit provided an enjoyable and educational experience for the children, helping them develop an early understanding of environmental protection.
