Today, a group of 357 students and teachers from Hemamali Girls’ College , Kandy visited the Lanka Mangrove Museum as part of an awareness program on mangrove conservation.
Objectives of the Program:
To educate students on the environmental importance of mangrove ecosystems
To promote awareness about biodiversity, coastal protection, and carbon storage
To encourage environmentally friendly attitudes and practices among youth
Program Highlights:
Guided tour of the museum exhibits
Educational sessions on mangrove species and their role in the ecosystem
Hands-on mangrove planting activities
Interactive presentations by environmental educators
The students showed great enthusiasm throughout the program, actively engaging in all sessions. This awareness program provided valuable insight into the significance of conserving mangroves and helped instill a sense of environmental responsibility among the younger generation.
