In celebration of International Mangrove Conservation Day, a mangrove restoration programme was successfully carried out today at the Kalpitiya Lagoon, where 960 Red Mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata) saplings were planted.
Today, a mangrove planting program was successfully conducted in the Ammathottam area of Kalpitiya with the aim of protecting and restoring the valuable mangrove ecosystem. The initiative was organized by the museum and financially supported by Port City – B.O.P.
The program brought together different groups within the community, including women, fishermen, and children from local children’s societies. Their active participation highlighted the importance of community involvement in environmental conservation and demonstrated a shared commitment to protecting nature for future generations.
