On 07 August 2026, the Lanka Mangrove Museum and Learning Center warmly welcomed a group of 21 students and three academic staff members from the Department of Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management, University College of Anuradhapura, University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC). The educational field visit was organized as part of the NVQ Level 5 academic programme, providing students with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of Sri Lanka’s unique mangrove ecosystems.

During the visit, the students participated in an informative guided tour of the museum, where they explored a wide range of exhibits highlighting the biodiversity, ecological functions, and socio-economic importance of mangrove ecosystems. The museum’s educational displays, preserved specimens, and interactive learning resources enabled students to better understand the role of mangroves in coastal protection, fisheries, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation.

The Lanka Mangrove Museum and Learning Center is committed to promoting environmental education by providing meaningful learning experiences for school students, university students, researchers, and the wider community.
