Prof. K.A.Sunanda Kodikara, is the head of Department of Botany at University of Ruhuna (https://www.sci.ruh.ac.lk/botany/) and is a scientific committee member of the Lanka Mangrove Museum. He is the local coordinator TROPIMUNDO Master Program (Belgium, Italy, France)
( https://tropimundo.eu/#partners). Millie German, a student at the Université libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, came to Sri Lanka to conduct her research about mangroves. Prof. Farid Dahdouh-Guebas conducted research about mangroves in the Chilaw Pambala Lagoon area in 2000, under the field guidance of Mr. Duglas Thesera (current museum director of the LMM). Prof. Farid is the Tropimundo Founding and Managing Director, Research and Unit Systems, Ecology, and Management (SERM). Ms. Millie has accompanied in her research with Bhagya Madhushani, a student at the University of Ruhuna, and Prof. Sunanda provided support and supervision throughout the process. Today they have initiated the data collection and will continue it for the next few days with the support of the Lanka Mangrove Museum.
