SPECIAL VISIT OF DR. L.P. BATUWITAGE, THE SEACOLOGY SRI LANKA REPRESENTATIVE TO THE LMM TO MEET “TOGETHER WITH MANGROVES” KIDS AND YOUTH ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIETY MEMBERS

Dr. L.P. Batuwitage, the Seacology Sri Lanka Representative, visited the “Together with Mangroves” kids and youth environmental society on February 21, 2024, and met with the members. Before meeting them, Dr. Batuwitage discussed with museum staff regarding museum operations and upgrades. Following the conversation, she met the members of the society, and the youngsters greeted her cordially.
She provided a conscious, intelligent, and easily understood speech about the necessity of teamwork while interacting with youngsters, using educational aids and discussing real-life examples as well as the natural world examples. She addressed with the children the steps involved in establishing a mangrove nursery, as well as their experiences. The children appreciated her speech and interacted with Dr. Batuwitage during it. The children appreciated her speech and talked with Dr. Batuwitage. She talked about children in a friendly manner and shared her concept for making homemade papers out of used paper. During this meeting, the new intern, Ms. Rajini Herath, introduced herself to the society’s members and expressed her desire to collaborate with them to create recycled papers. The Lanka Mangrove Museum staff are grateful to Dr. L.P. Batuwitage for her tremendous support and for teaching the youngsters essential life lessons.
