On December 5, 2024, the Lanka Mangrove Museum had the honor of hosting a geography student from Ruhuna University. The student, who is currently working on an assignment focused on mangrove deforestation and protection, engaged in an enlightening discussion with our Museum Director.

Research work continued with the Student from Ruhuna University

Ongoing Research Support The collaborative research did not end with the initial visit. (Research Student from the Ruhuna University)

The Lanka Mangrove Museum has committed to supporting the student’s ongoing research journey. The Museum Director will continue to offer guidance and access to valuable resources available at the museum. Research work has continued beyond the initial visit, with the Director taking an active role in supporting and mentoring the student’s research on mangrove deforestation and protection. By fostering this partnership (Ruhuna University), the museum reaffirms its dedication to supporting education and research

We, at the Lanka Mangrove Museum, have never shied away from collaborating with students, researchers, and aspiring environmental leaders to amplify the message of conservation. Such collaborations help strengthen the understanding regarding conservation efforts and aid in sculpting the young minds.

Concerning the above narrative, we are proud to still provide support in terms of education and research directed towards the protection of mangroves and ecosystem preservation. The partnership with local universities, including Ruhuna University, is a vital component in our undertaking to conserve the irreplaceable mangrove ecosystem.
