This is one of the most rare mangrove species in Sri Lanka. It has been reported only in Maadu-River,
Galle Sri Lanka. Since these trees produce red flower bunches, it is locally called as “Ratha-Milla”.  As the species is rare, uses are not reported but some parts are used for some treatments in traditional medicine.
