LEO Club Members of Ananda College Visit Lanka Mangrove Museum to Deepen Environmental Awareness
On the 2nd of May 2025, the Lanka Mangrove Museum in Pambala welcomed eight enthusiastic students from the LEO Club of Ananda College, Colombo. Traveling all the way from the capital, these young leaders took part in an educational tour aimed at enhancing their understanding of mangrove ecosystems and the broader importance of environmental conservation.
As part of their ongoing commitment to community service and sustainable development, the LEO Club members engaged deeply with the museum’s interactive exhibits and awareness programs. Guided by the museum’s education team, they explored the ecological significance of mangrove forests—learning how these unique habitats protect coastlines, support biodiversity, and play a key role in combating climate change through carbon storage.
The visit included documentary screenings, guided discussions, and hands-on learning experiences that gave the students a holistic view of mangrove conservation efforts in Sri Lanka. The club members showed great curiosity and leadership potential, raising thoughtful questions and discussing ways to advocate for environmental protection within their communities.
This visit marks another successful outreach milestone for the Lanka Mangrove Museum, highlighting the power of youth engagement in shaping a more environmentally responsible future. The students left inspired, pledging to raise awareness and take part in more green initiatives through their LEO Club activities.
