“Together With Mangroves” Children and Youth Environmental Society Volunteers routine work
On 20th December, members of the “Together With Mangroves” Children and Youth Environmental Society of the Lanka Mangrove Museum & Learning Center volunteered their time to clean and maintain the boats used by the Museum. These boats play an essential role in educational tours, field research, and conservation activities carried out within the mangrove ecosystem.
The volunteer activity was carried out with great enthusiasm and teamwork, as the young members worked together to remove dirt, debris, and algae from the boats. Through this hands-on effort, the participants learned the importance of regular maintenance and responsibility in supporting conservation-based institutions. The activity also helped them understand how small actions contribute to the long-term sustainability of environmental education programs.
This initiative highlighted the commitment of the “Together With Mangroves” Children and Youth Environmental Society to protecting and supporting the Museum’s work. By actively engaging in volunteer service, the young environmentalists demonstrated leadership, responsibility, and a strong sense of stewardship toward mangrove conservation and community-based environmental protection.
