The association is mainly supervised by Mr. Duglas Thesera, Director of the Lanka Mangrove Museum and Learning Center and guided by Ms. P. Dilki Kaushalya, the Education Officer of the Museum, who provides continuous mentorship and direction.
The primary aim of the Young Researchers Association is to foster collaboration, expand scientific research, and promote innovation in mangrove conservation and coastal ecosystem studies. Through field-based investigations, awareness initiatives, and research collaborations, the YRA seeks to contribute to the Museum’s mission of environmental education, sustainable development, and biodiversity conservation.
By empowering young minds and encouraging scientific curiosity, the YRA serves as a bridge between academic knowledge and practical conservation efforts—building a new generation of environmental leaders dedicated to protecting Sri Lanka’s mangrove ecosystems.
