“Together With Mangroves” Society Continues Mangrove Restoration at Pambala Lagoon
On August 2, 2025, the “Together With Mangroves” Children and Youth Environmental Society took another meaningful step in their ongoing mangrove restoration project by planting mangrove seedlings along the Pambala Lagoon area near the Lanka Mangrove Museum.
This dedicated group of young environmentalists, who have been actively involved in protecting and nurturing mangrove ecosystems, worked with great enthusiasm to expand the green cover of the lagoon. The restoration effort is part of a long-term initiative aimed at enhancing coastal resilience, improving biodiversity, and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
Under the guidance of museum staff and environmental experts, the participants learned about proper planting techniques and the importance of maintaining ecological balance in coastal wetlands. The activity also served as an educational experience, instilling values of environmental stewardship and responsibility in the younger generation.
The Lanka Mangrove Museum continues to play a pivotal role in empowering youth through hands-on conservation activities, fostering a sense of ownership and active participation in safeguarding Sri Lanka’s vital mangrove habitats.
