NSBM Green University Students Join Mangrove Restoration Efforts

On July 28, 2025, a vibrant group of students from NSBM Green University, Sri Lanka, visited the Lanka Mangrove Museum for an engaging and impactful environmental experience. Their visit was more than just an educational tour—it became a hands-on contribution to mangrove conservation.

The students began their day exploring the museum’s exhibits, where they learned about the ecological importance of mangrove forests, their role in climate resilience, and the threats these unique ecosystems face due to human activity. Guided by the museum’s staff, they gained insight into sustainable solutions for preserving mangroves.

Following the awareness session, the group actively took part in a mangrove planting initiative. With young mangrove seedlings in hand, they walked through the lush mangrove trail toward the lagoon. Smiles and enthusiasm were clearly visible as they carefully prepared for the planting activity, understanding the long-term value of each seedling they were about to help root.

This initiative aligns perfectly with NSBM Green University’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. The involvement of university students in such field-based conservation work strengthens the message of youth-led action in safeguarding biodiversity.

The Lanka Mangrove Museum appreciates the active participation of the NSBM students and encourages more institutions to engage in similar environmental restoration efforts. Every planted mangrove is a step toward a greener, more resilient coastal ecosystem.

Together, let’s protect what protects us.
