On the 26th of July 2025, the Lanka Mangrove Museum proudly celebrated International Mangrove Conservation Day with a special event bringing together local and international participants dedicated to environmental protection.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests and organizations, including:

  • Prof. Kathiresan – India

  • Prof. L. P. Jayatissa

  • Mr. Rosan Perera

  • Dr. Leela Batuwita

  • Several Divisional Secretaries

  • Dr. Jagath Gunawardena

  • Youth Society for Wildlife Conservation

A special highlight of the event was a donation of books to the museum library by the Lions Club of Colombo, supporting the educational mission of the museum.

Throughout the day, a series of presentations and discussions were held by experts under various themes related to mangrove conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable ecosystem management. These sessions enriched the knowledge of all attendees and emphasized the vital role mangroves play in climate resilience and coastal protection.
