Since this species produce beautiful flowers, this species is locally called “Mal-Kadol” (Flowering Mangroves). Propagules are short. Matured stems are used for furniture, fences and in making temporal houses. As this wood is durable in water, this species is widely used for canoe-paddles, fishing fleets and fishing gears. Dead branches are used as high quality firewood.
This species is used in the traditional medicine and the flowers are useful for beekeeping.
