Since this species produce beautiful flowers, this species is locally called “Mal-Kadol” (Flowering Mangroves). Slender, curved propagules are produced. This is a rare mangrove species in Sri Lanka. “Knee-Roots” are produced as respiratory roots. Viviparous propagules are present.
